Got Meat?

Every few years, Matt and I eat our way through several hundred pounds of meat.  This year, it was time to re-order.  The timing was right and we had a cow ready to serve as our meat supply for the next couple years.  Luckily, we also had a couple friends ready to split the food…otherwise, we’d be up to our necks in meat.

Here’s the back of our truck loaded with a freezer and coolers of meat.  There is also one in the truck that’s not pictured.

Once inside, Matt unloaded the meat into our 2 freezers.

All the meat in this freezer belongs to our friends Joe and Shaunta’.  It’s being delivered next weekend and I’m ready to move it on our and have some breathing room in our freezer. :)

Surprise from MOM!

I received a little surprise in the mail from my mom this week.  Matt and I leave next week for a 2 week vacation to Ireland and I had asked to borrow mom’s Kindle to save luggage space in my suitcase.  Much to my AMAZEMENT she went out and got me a Kindle for our trip.  This first picture shows all the books lying around my house waiting to be read.

Shown a different way, you can easily see how much I’ve got to read.

Isn’t it sad that I’ve got so many books, Matt can use them as an arm rest?

Here’s a photo of the Kindle.  You can see how tiny it is and how thin it is…so small.  This little computer holds 1500 books and you can store thousands more online.  I’ve started downloading books and can’t imagine how I can possibly read them all.  A BIG THANKS TO MY MOM! I heart you.

Baby-sitting the BIG BOY

At first I was worried that Jenny and Pork Chop would not get along.  You remember the earlier posting that may have suggested such a thought.  Well it turns out that they LOVED playing together (after Jenny demonstrated her DOMINANCE).  They would play all day and well into the night.  This lead to exhaustion by both parties!

This is the most sleep that Pork Chop and Jenny got during the day.  100_0156

100_0166   Luckily, I had a couple of great friends that were willing to run with me and the dogs.  Jenny was used to running on the leash (and I use the term running…very lightly) while Pork Chop had other ideas.  After about 30 minutes of exercise, we were able to get the dogs back towards home.  All that exercise was the only way to get both of them to sit down and look at me…well that and TREATS!

Allie’s Illegitimate Son-Part 2

So, many of you may remember that Allie gave birth this time last year to a spawn of Buster.  Buster is my in-laws cattle dog and somehow got past the fence and into the dog pen to fornicate with my precious Allie.  The result was the little guy pictured below.

Luckily we found a great home for Allie’s baby boy.  The proud new owners named him Pork Chop and Jenny was never happier to see him leave.  Please see the picture below for Jenny’s true disgust.

100_2786 Now it is 1 year later and we are dog-sitting little Pork Chop.

Jenny demonstrated her dominance early and put Pork Chop in his place…under the porch swing.100_0153

Mother and Son…Allie’s confused, but she eventually gets over it.

Indianapolis FUN-Roller derby style

This year, I promised myself that I would try something new in Indianapolis each month.  The latest adventure was roller-derby.  Apparently it is no longer allowed to hit another girl in the face, so it was less eventful than we anticipated.  Despite the lack of violence, we had a great time.  My knitting class organized the adventure and we had a huge group (including lots of people from work).  It was so much fun and I can’t wait to get back!

100_0116 100_0119 100_0124 The half-time show was very interesting.  It was a big difference from the roller-derby itself…
